2018 Summer Reading

This page is your one-stop resource for all things summer reading! No matter your age, everything you need is here—instructions to participate in the summer reading program, a schedule of events for kids, teens, and adults, and every other thing.

Summer Reading

This summer, our theme is Libraries Rock. To participate, you’ll need a Reading Rocks BINGO card, and complete the challenges on it. To get as many bingos as possible, you’ll need to read books of many types, play games, spend time outside, and do other summery activities.

For each Bingo (down, across, diagonal) you win:

  • 1 raffle ticket, which you can use to enter to win one of our rocking prize baskets, and
  • 1 prize from our prize chest

If you can get a full card, spin the WHEEL OF WONDER for an extra prize!

If you didn’t make it to our Kickoff party, you can get a bingo card from Miss Alyce, or by downloading them at one of the links below.

The statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading Program is supported by the RI Office of Library and Information Services, with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Adult Summer Reading

The Adult Program is simple this year – adults aged 17 or older can come to the library and get a reading log (or download it right here). Track the titles of books and magazines you’ve read. For every book you read, you will get a raffle ticket for our weekly drawing. For every five books, you will get a special grand prize ticket for the drawing on August 4th.

Be sure to check in regularly! We will be having a drawing every week for a small prize.

The Adult Summer Reading Program this year is possible due to support from Bill Hanney’s historic Theatre by the Sea. They provided us with a pair of tickets to Chicago: The Musical to use as our Grand Prize.
