Kids’ Corner
Welcome to Story Hour/Toddler Time at the North Scituate Public Library
We have tons of fun at Story Hour and Toddler Time, and so do the parents!
Here’s a brief run down of what we do:
I plan each Story Hour/Toddler Time session around a theme. We open with a song and close with a song and these same songs are repeated each week. The stories read, fingerplays, poem, or felt story used are also based on this theme. I also include in each session a craft that somehow relates to one of the stories or to the theme in general.
Each Story Hour session lasts about 45 minutes and Toddler Time about 30 minutes.
A Story Hour Bulletin Board is up on the first end aisle facing the Picture Books. Please check this for weekly Story Hour/ Toddler Time themes and any other announcements.
I ask that all toys be left upstairs with caregiver during Story Hour, as well as any food or drink, however I do sometimes have a snack for the children if theme related.
Caregiver will accompany the child during Toddler Time and
it will be up to them to regulate the child’s behavior.
It is also very helpful if your child uses the restroom before the session begins!
If your child (or child’s sibling) is sick and you cannot attend Story Hour/Toddler Time, you do not need to call in, but if your plans change and you will not be attending again, then please call.
I prefer that parents remain in the building, should your child need you, but if you do need to leave, please let me know and be sure that you make whatever arrangements with your child.
There will be no Story Hour/Toddler Time during Scituate school vacations. We will also cancel due to inclement weather when schools are closed even if the library opens.
Story Hour/Toddler Time is a great social opportunity for both parents and children. All suggestions are welcome. We want this time to be a positive experience for you and your child and help instill in him/her the wonder and joy of reading. If there are ever any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
