Reference blog

Did you notice that the library has a new site!? It has an updated style and layout, and we have way more control over how it looks than we used to. It’s mobile responsive and it will be able to change and evolve with time.

Y’all, I have been working towards the release of this site for two years. We faced a lot of setbacks, but with patience and perseverance, it is here! I am beyond excited; this has been the biggest long-term project I have completed since starting to work here. Please leave a comment or email me and let me know what you like and don’t like about it.

As you can see, part of the site is this blog for the reference department. If you’re in here a lot you definitely know my face, but might not know my name. I’m Katherine Stapp, your reference librarian. I’ve been here since 2016. If you need help on the computers, or with the dratted printer, or had a question that the people at the front desk couldn’t answer, you met me. Hi!

Check back here whenever you want to hear ramblings from the reference department! I’ll be posting hopefully once a week about adult services plans, programs, and works in progress. Maybe also about what I’m reading, if it’s a slow or otherwise uninteresting week.

For now: we are consumed with Summer Reading prep. The program starts on July 1, and the switch to Beanstack was a little rushed due to the pandemic. I am really delighted with the adult reading program, and I hope you are just as excited as I am. My plan for the day today is to update everything so that the information about the gift baskets we have for prizes at the end of the program is available.
