Who says adults can’t get cool prizes for reading too? This year, adults who sign up for our Summer Reading Program will receive a raffle ticket for every item they check out for themselves (audiobooks, movies, magazines, and CDs count too!). You’ll also get a fun BINGO card that gives you the chance to earn even MORE tickets while engaging in fun activities at the library. Raffle baskets will be on display near the front desk. Sign up and receive tickets any time before August 23rd. Let’s get reading!

Take home an art kit from the library, use your creativity to paint, draw, or decorate to your heart’s content, then return your masterpiece to the library for a Community Art Show in the library’s meeting room! Stop by the front desk to receive your kit. Art pieces should be returned by August 23rd to be displayed throughout the month of September. Optionally: gather to admire everyone’s art and talk to other artists on Tuesday, September 5 at 6 PM.
Share your art, thoughts, recommendations, stories, and recipes with our supportive library community! Check out a themed journal at the library, fill a few pages with your contribution, and then return it to pass along to the next person. We’ll create beautiful journals filled with everyone’s wonderful voices that can be checked out for years to come. Journals will be on display at the library. Check one out with your library card - just like a book!

Have you ever wondered what goes into making a podcast? Ever thought about making one yourself? In this fun, laidback class, Reference Librarian Leah will introduce participants to the library’s podcasting equipment kit! We’ll learn about each piece and demonstrate how to use them, all while discussing what podcasts are and how they are made. This class is part of a series; come back on the 26th for part II. It’s an interview between you and another person that we help record and preserve for the future. You might talk about your family history, a fun memory, or something you want future generations to remember about Scituate. Registration required for a time slot.

Build on your knowledge of podcasting equipment with a tutorial on Audacity, a free software that works together with your equipment to record and put the finishing touches on your podcast.
